The ACF now have Two Adventure Training Centre for cadets and Adult adventurous training. The first is based at the old Cwrt-Y-Gollen Training Camp, near Crickhowell in South Wales, co-located with a new County Training Centre for Powys ACF, with which it shares many facilities. The second is based at Halton Training Camp near Lancaster. What is needed now is for the Adults and Cadets in general and Lancashire Adults and Cadets in particular to support it fully, and dispel any lingering doubts that the organisation is unable to support such a Centre.
Both centres are able to accommodate about 30 all ranks, dependent on the male/female and adult/cadet split.
Each centre has a full set of Adventure Training kit for rock climbing, kayaking, Canadian canoeing, mountain walking and expeditions. The kit allows for at least 12 persons to participate in each activity.
There are also courses that are available to adults at civilian training centres throughout the UK.
Adventure Training is another great activity that you can take part in as a member of the ACF. Lets look at some of the main adventurous activities that are available to cadets.
